Resize Image

AADDYY’s Resize Image changes the size of photos in your browser. Set exact pixels, a percentage, the longest side or a print size such as 3.5 × 4.5 cm at 300 DPI for passport and form photos. Crop or pad to fit, cap the file size in KB and resize up to 50 images, without uploading anything.

How it works.

  1. Add images

Drop up to 50 photos, choose them from your device or paste one. JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, AVIF, GIF and BMP work in any current browser; TIFF opens in Safari.

  2. Choose the new size

Pick Pixels, Percent, Longest side or Print. For a passport or form photo, choose Print, keep 35 × 45 mm at 300 DPI, and decide whether to crop or pad.

  3. Resize and download

Select Resize. Each image is resampled on your device with a high-quality filter; download one file or all of them as a ZIP.

Options, explained.

Pixels
Type a width or a height and the other edge follows each image’s shape. Turn off Keep aspect ratio to get exactly the width and height you type.
Percent and longest side
Percent scales width and height together: 50% halves both. Longest side sets the longer edge, for example 1920 px for the web, and can leave smaller images as they are.
Print
A size on paper in mm, cm or inches at a DPI (dots per inch): 35 × 45 mm at 300 DPI is 413 × 531 pixels. JPG and PNG files also store the DPI, so they print at that size.
Crop, pad or stretch
When the new shape differs from the photo, Crop fills the frame and trims the edges evenly, Pad fits the whole photo and fills the gaps with a colour, and Stretch distorts it to fit.
File size limit
Optional, for forms that cap uploads at a size such as 50 KB. JPG or WebP quality is lowered until the file fits; the size in pixels stays as you set it.
Format
Original keeps JPG, PNG and WebP as they are; HEIC, AVIF, GIF, BMP and TIFF become JPG, or PNG when they have transparency. You can also choose JPG, PNG or WebP for every file.

Private by design.

Resize Image runs entirely in your browser. Your files are read into this tab’s memory, processed by code running on your device and saved straight back to it. Nothing is uploaded, so there’s no queue to wait in and nothing to delete afterwards.

Like the rest of AADDYY, this page counts visits with analytics. The tool area is hidden from session recordings, and usage events record only counts and sizes, never file names or contents.

Open-source notice

When this browser can’t open HEIC photos itself, the page loads heic-to 1.6.6, which contains libheif 1.23.6 and libde265 1.0.16. They are free software under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3, served unmodified as a separate file from this site, and they run on your device without sending anything anywhere.

Questions.

Is Resize Image free?

Yes. There’s no sign-up, no daily limit and no watermark, and you can resize up to 50 images at a time.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Your browser resizes the images on your device and saves the results back to it. No image data is sent to AADDYY or anyone else.

How do I make a 3.5 × 4.5 cm passport-size photo?

Choose Print, keep the 35 × 45 mm size (3.5 × 4.5 cm) and 300 DPI, keep Crop, and select Resize. You get a 413 × 531 pixel photo trimmed evenly from the edges, so crop it yourself first if the face isn’t in the middle. Check your application’s own rules too: many also set a background colour or a file size.

How do I resize a photo to under 20 KB or 50 KB?

Set the size you need, turn on Limit the file size and type the limit. JPG and WebP quality is lowered until the file fits. If it still can’t fit, you get the smallest version and a note; try smaller dimensions. To shrink a file without choosing its pixel size, use Compress Image.

Will resizing reduce the quality?

Making an image smaller keeps it sharp: it is resampled with a high-quality Lanczos filter. Making it bigger can’t add detail, so enlarged images look softer, and the result says when an image was enlarged.

What does DPI mean?

DPI (dots per inch) links pixels to a size on paper: at 300 DPI, one inch is 300 pixels. It only matters for printing. Files made with Print store the DPI in JPG and PNG, so print dialogs use the right size; WebP files have nowhere to store it.

Can I resize HEIC photos from an iPhone?

Yes. Safari opens HEIC itself; in Chrome, Edge and Firefox the page loads a separate decoder the first time you add a HEIC photo, and it also runs on your device. HEIC photos are saved as JPG unless you choose PNG or WebP.

Does resizing remove location data?

Yes. Resized files are saved without EXIF metadata such as GPS location, camera model and date taken. Photos are turned upright first, so they don’t come out sideways.
