Compress Image

AADDYY’s Compress Image makes JPG, PNG and WebP files smaller, right in your browser. Set a quality level, or type a target such as 100 KB and it finds the best quality that fits. Compress up to 50 images at once and download them as a ZIP. Nothing is uploaded, and location data is removed.

  • Free, no sign-up
  • Files never leave your device
  • No watermark, no daily limit

How it works.

  1. Add images

Drop up to 50 JPG, PNG or WebP files, choose them from your device, or paste with Ctrl+V (⌘V on a Mac).

  2. Choose how small

Pick a quality level, or switch to Target size and type a limit such as 100 KB. You can also change the format and cap the dimensions.

  3. Compress and download

Select Compress. Each image is processed on your device; download them one by one or all together as a ZIP.

Options, explained.

Quality
Lower numbers give smaller files with more visible artefacts. 75 is a good balance for photos; above 85 is hard to tell from the original.
Target size
The most each file may weigh, in KB (1 KB = 1,000 bytes). The tool looks for the highest quality that fits and, only if it must, scales the image down. If nothing fits, you get the smallest version and a note saying so.
Format
Keep original saves each image in its current format. WebP is usually the smallest for photos. JPG works everywhere; transparent areas become white. PNG is lossless: at its original size every pixel is kept, and the quality setting doesn’t apply. Animated WebP and PNG files are kept as they are for now.
Maximum size
Optionally limit the longer side, for example to 1920 px for the web. Smaller images are never enlarged.
Metadata
Location, camera and date details (EXIF) are removed. Colour profiles are kept, and so is a JPG’s rotation, so images look the same as before.

Private by design.

Compress Image runs entirely in your browser. Your files are read into this tab’s memory, processed by code running on your device and saved straight back to it. Nothing is uploaded, so there’s no queue to wait in and nothing to delete afterwards.

Like the rest of AADDYY, this page counts visits with analytics. The tool area is hidden from session recordings, and usage events record only counts and sizes, never file names or contents.

Questions.

Is Compress Image free?

Yes. There’s no sign-up, no daily limit and no watermark, and you can compress up to 50 images at a time.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Compression runs inside your browser, on your device, and nothing is sent anywhere. Your images stay as private as the other files on your phone or computer.

How do I compress an image to 100 KB or 20 KB?

Choose Target size, type 100 (or 20) and select Compress. The tool finds the highest quality that fits; if quality alone isn’t enough, it also reduces the dimensions. Very small targets may need a smaller image.

Will compression reduce the quality?

JPG and WebP compression removes detail you mostly can’t see; between quality 75 and 85 the difference is hard to spot. Keeping a PNG as PNG is lossless: unless you also set a maximum size, the file gets smaller and every pixel stays the same.

Which format gives the smallest file?

For photos, WebP is usually around 25 to 35 percent smaller than JPG at similar quality, and every current browser shows it. JPG is the safest choice for older apps and upload forms. PNG suits screenshots and graphics with sharp edges.

Does it remove location data from photos?

Yes. Files are saved without EXIF metadata, which can include GPS location, camera model and the date taken. Colour profiles and a JPG’s rotation are kept, so photos still look the same.

Why did a file get only slightly smaller?

Images that were already well compressed have little left to remove. If you keep the original format and no smaller version is possible at your setting, you get the original image back with its metadata removed, never a bigger file. Animated WebP and PNG files are always returned as they are for now.

Can I compress PNGs with transparency?

Yes. Keep the PNG format or choose WebP to preserve transparent areas. Converting to JPG fills them with white, because JPG doesn’t support transparency.
