How it works.
Add images
Drop up to 50 images, choose them from your device or paste one. HEIC, HEIF, WebP, PNG, JPG, AVIF, GIF and BMP work in any current browser; TIFF opens in Safari.
Pick the new format
Choose JPG, PNG or WebP. For JPG and WebP you can set the quality; for JPG, choose the colour that fills transparent areas.
Convert and download
Select Convert. Each image is converted on your device; save them one by one or all together as a ZIP.
Options, explained.
- JPG
- Opens everywhere, including older apps and upload forms. It has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background colour you pick, white by default.
- PNG
- Lossless: the converted image keeps every pixel, and its transparency. For photos, PNG files are much bigger than JPG.
- WebP
- Usually smaller than JPG at the same quality, with transparency. Every current browser shows it, but some older apps can’t open it.
- Quality
- For JPG and WebP. 90 keeps photos looking like the original; lower values make smaller files with more visible artefacts.
- HEIC photos
- Safari opens HEIC itself. Other browsers load a separate open-source decoder the first time you add a HEIC photo; it runs on your device like the rest of the tool and keeps the photo’s colour profile.
Private by design.
Convert Image runs entirely in your browser. Your files are read into this tab’s memory, processed by code running on your device and saved straight back to it. Nothing is uploaded, so there’s no queue to wait in and nothing to delete afterwards.
Like the rest of AADDYY, this page counts visits with analytics. The tool area is hidden from session recordings, and usage events record only counts and sizes, never file names or contents.
Open-source notice
When this browser can’t open HEIC photos itself, the page loads heic-to 1.6.6, which contains libheif 1.23.6 and libde265 1.0.16. They are free software under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3, served unmodified as a separate file from this site, and they run on your device without sending anything anywhere.

Questions.
Is Convert Image free?
Yes. There’s no sign-up, no daily limit and no watermark, and you can convert up to 50 images at a time.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Conversion happens in your browser, on your device. When a HEIC decoder is needed, the page downloads it from AADDYY like any other part of the page; your photos are never sent anywhere.
How do I convert HEIC to JPG?
Add your HEIC photos, keep JPG selected and select Convert. Safari converts them with its own decoder; Chrome, Edge and Firefox load a separate decoder the first time. Each photo comes out upright as a JPG you can open anywhere.
Will converting reduce the quality?
Converting to PNG keeps every pixel. JPG and WebP are lossy, but at quality 90 the difference is very hard to see. Converting a JPG to PNG can’t bring back detail that JPG compression already removed, and the file gets bigger.
What happens to transparent areas?
PNG and WebP keep them. JPG can’t store transparency, so those areas are filled with the background colour you choose, white by default.
Can I convert GIF or animated images?
Yes, from their first frame: JPG and PNG hold a single image, and the result says when a file was animated. An animated WebP that you keep as WebP comes back unchanged, with every frame.
Is location data removed?
Yes. Converted files are saved without EXIF metadata such as GPS location, camera model and date taken. Photos are turned upright and keep their colours: a JPG, PNG or WebP keeps its colour profile, and formats the browser opens itself are saved in standard sRGB.
Which format should I choose?
JPG for photos that must open anywhere, such as upload forms and older apps. PNG for screenshots, logos and anything with transparency or sharp text. WebP for websites: smaller than JPG, with transparency.
